Voting started on September 25, 2025, in the Plymouth City Commission election, and we’d like to take a moment to share why Ron Picard would be a strong addition to the Plymouth City Commission.
First of all, Ron is engaged with the community more than any of the incumbents. Our club held a non-partisan candidate forum on Tuesday, September 23, and invited all eight candidates for City Commission. We had a similar forum back in June for the primary election. The three incumbents did not show up to either forum. The candidates that came answered questions large and small, general and specific. They heard time and time again how residents feel that the current Commission is unresponsive and doesn’t listen to their concerns. More than any other candidate, Ron has been out front, talking to residents about issues that are important to them. That is way more than can be said about the current Commission.
Plymouth residents also feel that the current Commission is rash and lack problem solving skills. They rush into decisions with insufficient information. When it came to the two parks millages, Ron went door-to-door, asking residents if they thought that the Commission had pulled together enough information to warrant a new tax. While residents, including Ron, all love parks, they agreed with Ron that the Commission was moving forward blindly, and the vote turning down both millages proved his point.
Plymouth residents were also overwhelmingly concerned about the direction of their city. Ron was one of the most vocal opponents of the Champion PUD, as an example. Residents do not want the character of their community changed to build more dense housing. While the City Commission ignored residents’ complaints, Ron went into action. The developer withdrew the request.
Because of all of that and more, the Plymouth Canton Republicans Club urges you to consider Ron Picard. Ron is one of the hardest working and dedicated individuals we know. He is the candidate most likely to be responsive and transparent to residents, get evidence before moving forward, and keep Plymouth’s charming character and nature at the forefront.

Think locally, act locally.
